Darlene Ryan

Darlene Ryan was born in 1958. As a university student she studied biology and education. She has also worked as a radio producer, journalist, and copywriter. Her first teen novel, Rules for Life, began in a workshop with young adult novelist Kevin Major. In 2006, she was named the poet recipient of the Dr. Marilyn Trenholme Counsell Early Childhood Literacy Award for her work supporting the literacy development of children under the age of five. Ryan also writes under the pseudonym Sofie Kelly. She resides in Fredericton, NB.

Geoff Butler

Geoff Butler was born and on Fogo Island, Newfoundland, and lived in Newfoundland throughout his childhood. As an adult, Butler attended Memorial University in Newfoundland before moving to New York State where he attended Syracuse University. He also studied at the Art Students’ League in New York City. Butler is a painter, writer, and illustrator. He has written and illustrated his own books, as well as illustrated books for other authors. His artwork has been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and in 2006 Butler was elected member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. Butler currently lives in Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia where he continues to write and paint.

Troy Little

Troy Little was born on Prince Edward Island. In 1994, Little graduated from Sheridan College with a degree in Interpretive Illustration. Little then moved to Ottawa to pursue employment opportunities in the animation industry before returning to PEI in 2003. Before moving back to the island, he had  decided to pursue a career in comics, which was first supported by a grant from the Xeric Foundation and then a PEI Council of the Arts grant. His first comic, Chiaroscuro, was self-published through Meanwhile Studios (2001-03) and then re-published by IDW publishing, including previously unpublished work drawn in 2004-05 (hardcover 2007, paperback 2008). Little then began work on his next project, Angora Napkin. Angora Napkin was published in hardcover in 2009, and in the fall of 2010 the animated show debuted on Teletoon.
