Tina, Rick, and Alan are three friends in a complicated relationship. Though they are friends, Rick and Alan are always competing against each other, particularly on the soccer field, as well as for Tina's affections. Conflict between the boys erupts when Tina breaks up with Rick in order to date Alan. Ultimately, this causes Rick to resent his now former friend. However, things change after one soccer game when Alan collapses from a pre-existing liver condition. Since Rick and Alan share the same rare blood type, Tina convinces Rick to donate his blood. However, Rick is killed on his way to the hospital, and Alan is the transplant recipient of Rick’s liver.
